DORAi: Research in Progress
There comes a moment when an artwork stops being only a painting, sculpture or installation and begins to ask a different question: what else can art become?
This is one of the investigations taking place inside my studio.
Beyond paintings, drawings and sculptures, the studio has gradually evolved into a research laboratory where contemporary art, robotics, artificial intelligence and interactive installations coexist as part of the same artistic inquiry. Every project begins through experimentation, where ideas are tested, rebuilt and often abandoned before finding their final form.
It was within this environment that DORAi was born.
More than a technological project, DORAi is an artistic research into perception, memory and presence. It explores how an artificial system can observe, respond and create new forms of interaction between artwork and audience, transforming technology into artistic language rather than simply a tool.
This process brings together conceptual art, contemporary art, installation art, industrial design, creative coding and artificial intelligence research, connecting disciplines that rarely occupy the same space. The goal has never been to replace the artist, but to expand the possibilities of artistic creation through emerging technologies.
Inside the studio, machines are built with the same intention as a painting is created: to investigate questions that still have no definitive answers.
Every sensor, prototype, line of code and electronic component represents another step toward understanding how emotion, memory and human experience can coexist with intelligent systems.
This studio is not simply a place where artworks are produced.
It is a place where ideas become systems, where technology becomes material, and where contemporary art continues to expand its own boundaries.
Because every research journey begins in exactly the same way:
With curiosity, experimentation, and the courage to build what does not yet exist.
DORAi: Pesquisa em Processo
Existe um momento em que uma obra deixa de ser apenas pintura, escultura ou instalação e passa a fazer uma nova pergunta: o que ainda pode ser arte?
Essa é uma das investigações que acontecem dentro do meu studio.
Além de telas, desenhos e esculturas, este espaço tornou-se, ao longo dos anos, um laboratório de pesquisa onde arte contemporânea, robótica, inteligência artificial e instalações interativas convivem como partes de uma mesma investigação. Cada projeto nasce da experimentação, onde ideias são testadas, reconstruídas e, muitas vezes, abandonadas antes de encontrarem sua forma definitiva.
Foi nesse ambiente que nasceu a DORAi.
Mais do que um projeto tecnológico, a DORAi é uma pesquisa artística sobre percepção, memória e presença. Ela investiga como um sistema artificial pode observar, responder e criar novas formas de interação entre obra e público, transformando a tecnologia em linguagem, e não apenas em ferramenta.
Esse processo reúne arte conceitual, arte contemporânea, instalação, design industrial, programação criativa e pesquisa em inteligência artificial, aproximando disciplinas que raramente ocupam o mesmo espaço. O objetivo nunca foi substituir o artista, mas ampliar as possibilidades da criação por meio das tecnologias emergentes.
Dentro do studio, máquinas são construídas com a mesma intenção com que uma pintura é criada: investigar perguntas que ainda não possuem respostas definitivas.
Cada sensor, cada protótipo, cada linha de código e cada componente eletrônico representam mais um passo na tentativa de compreender como emoção, memória e experiência humana podem coexistir com sistemas inteligentes.
Este studio não é apenas um lugar onde obras são produzidas.
É um espaço onde ideias se transformam em sistemas, onde tecnologia se torna matéria e onde a arte contemporânea continua expandindo os próprios limites.
